All modern jets with Russian engines can do that including J-20. Plus MiG-35 even if it's without trust vectoring in series production. Are very dangerous due to its ability to turn sharp despite having a wing capable of sustained turn.

@@KALKAL_ISYU for you to pull a cobra you are already defensive (getting chased), which mean you are dead anyway. So what you want is to force him to overshoot and reset the fight, which means neither both is on one's six. And if you failed to keep your nose and speed onto your enemy, your enemy already overshot thus the fight got reset, or even having the advantage on your side (even better if you have missiles). No maneuvers can bleed speed as quick as Cobra, which means it's a guaranteed 100% overshoot if you don't do it miles away from your bandit.

Believe it or not, they did a lot of research and consulted real-life Top Gun pilots, when designing the dog fights in the movie.
The maneuvers that Maverick is using in the Tomcat, during the dog fight against the Su-57, are based on suggestions of real life pilots on how they would try to fight a 5th gen jet.
People say: "There´s no way an older jet like the Tomcat could defeat a modern Su-57...." which is true on paper, but they ignore that actual dog fighting hasn´t been done in decades and also that the experience of a pilot plays a big part in this.
The movie actually adresses this, that nobody has done a proper dog fight in ages and therefore lack the expertise for it.

Tell that to the J35 Draken pilots who used this on regular basis during the 60:s and 70:s when they conducted aerialcombattraining. You should also speak to those Su15 pilots that flew over the Baltic sea and who encountered those J35:s. On several occations those Su15:s found Them selfes to be the hunted when the J35:s did the "kort parad" against them

    • @negergreger666

@@Daniel-jg8ff ...but that was a fairly different manoeuvre. The one shown by the SU-35 in this clip makes the aircraft come to an almost complete standstill, and lose all of its airspeed and hence its ability to take evasive action for several seconds. It’s an aerobatic display and nothing else. The one used by Draken pilots (and popularised by the Su-27 cobra manoeuvre later on) means the aircraft retains a significant airspeed and and can therefore still manoeuvre both offensively and defensively. Two different scenarios really.

These maneuvers are really epic but more simple versions are used in combat Sims, as these guys kill your agility and any possibility for following evasion maneuvers

It's a awesome maneuver but the recovery and the acceleration it's very slow so if there was two Jets against one. the other jet or the wingman would have got him because he had a lot of drawback speed
